The mountain farmers’ old handcrafts.

In rural life and in particular in the times of Alpine farming hand crafts had a key role to play. Many of the working techniques used have changed in the course of mechanisation, but they have not entirely disappeared.

At the exhibition historic forms of processing wood using many different applications is revealed, so too are the various methods used to gather hay. In addition, wool was also greatly significant in Alpine people's live.

Alpe Batzen is accessible via an easy (family) hike, both from Warth and from Schröcken.

  • From Warth: From the Hochtannbergpass via Kalbelesee to Körbersee - continue to Alpe Batzen (ca. 1.5 hours).
  • From Schröcken: From Heimboden (church) via the old road to Felle Alpe, continuing to Alpe Batzen (ca. 1 hour).
