Sunshine skiing in Warth-Schröcken.
The best is saved for last:
The Warth-Schröcken ski area is open up to and including 21 April 2025.
The two Walser villages of Warth and Schröcken are situated at an altitude of around 1500 metres in a prime location in the Ski Arlberg ski area. Here on the Hochtannberg Pass, the snow trickles down in huge quantities, ensuring the finest skiing fun right into April. Because when elsewhere the first skiers are already putting their skis in the cellar, Ski Arlberg makes passionate winter sports fans shine once again. While the spring flowers sprout down in the valley, the sunny skiing up on the mountain provides a different kind of splash of colour. The red umbrellas of the ski bars "bloom" there. Further over, the yellow deckchairs on the sun terrace are glowing. And around the corner, the red and white striped beach chairs shine in the snow
Five good reasons for the grand finale in Warth-Schröcken:
Skiing in the sun: swap your down jacket for a T-shirt
The sun warms not only the firn slopes in March - and then really at the beginning of April - but also the hearts of skiers. When the temperatures move from freezing into the plus range, the motto at the many mountain huts and restaurants high above Warth-Schröcken is: sunbathing without down and mittens. But with a deckchair and sun cream. The logical order on the Arlberg is therefore: firn in the morning, carving on the north-facing slopes in the early afternoon and then rounding off the day's skiing in comfort on one of the many sun terraces.
The best of both worlds: It's all a question of taste
Soft firn or dusty pistes? Why not both! In April, open, south-facing slopes offer a special skiing experience: firn skiing. The snow crystals melt on the surface and form soft firn, which epitomises skiing pleasure like nothing else. Those who prefer a dusting of snow and still want to make carving turns on grippy pistes at the end of the season will find what they are looking for on the northern slopes. Because up here between the Allgäu Alps and the Verwall Group, the snow lasts extra long thanks to the unique topography.
The Easter bunny comes to Warth-Schröcken
Have you ever looked for Easter eggs in the snow? If you'd rather do a few more laps on skis at Easter than go for a walk in the slush, you'll find what you're looking for in Warth-Schröcken. The tempting mixture of firn and powder snow is still tempting here until 16 April and even the Easter bunny drives through the ski area and hands out chocolate eggs to skiers of all ages.
