Preparations for the Cross-Country Skiing Course

  • The right cross-country skis: The optimal length of your cross-country skis depends on the technique you use and your experience level. For the classic style, we usually recommend a ski length of about your height plus 20 to 30 cm. In the skating style, the skis are somewhat shorter - here the recommendation is height plus 5 to 15 cm. Additionally, your body weight plays an important role, as heavier skiers often opt for slightly longer skis to ensure adequate stability and control.
  • The optimal poles for cross-country skiing: The correct length of your cross-country poles depends on the skiing technique and your height. For the classic style, we recommend a pole length of about 83 to 85% of your height. In the skating style, the poles are slightly longer - here the recommendation is around 88 to 90%. You can also easily calculate the length by multiplying your height in centimeters by 0.84 (classic) or 0.89 (skating).
  • Your style on the trail: Functionality and comfort are the top priorities! Breathable clothing, a warm hat or headband, thin gloves, sun protection, and good sports glasses are just as important as comfortable cross-country skiing...
